What Clients Say
“Michael is an editing wizard. I’d already had my manuscript proofread not once but twice, and with so many additional edits, I felt it needed one last set of eyes. Even after two proofreads, Michael found many things that needed changing and I know that my book is so much more polished and professional because of his help and expertise. Thank you, Michael!”
“Mike is a superstar editor. He is simply THE BEST. Incredibly professional, knowledgeable, punctual, reasonable, and intuitive—Mike is all those things. Mike, thank you so very much for the fabulous job you have done editing my manuscript. I really appreciate it, and I appreciate you!”

“Michael reviewed my 190,000-word manuscript, and, true to his word, did so within the timeframe and with the close eye it required! Michael was very responsive to our queries and was positive and professional throughout our interactions. This is my first book, and I must say it is a little daunting getting to this stage, and his assurance alleviated any concerns. I would highly recommend Michael for his feedback, quality of service, and reliability. Lastly, thank you so much, Michael. I have valued all your edits and look forward to working with you again!”
Michael is a New York Times–bestselling book editor with more than fourteen years of experience in the New York City publishing industry. He specializes in nonfiction (self-help and business), memoir, music band biographies, fiction (detective mysteries, romance, and literary fiction), YA, and a wide range of additional genres.
Perfecting your story through the editorial process is a major milestone for any writer—and one of the most exciting stages of the journey. Michael finds genuine joy in helping writers learn, grow, and transform their manuscripts. Whether you are new to book writing or a published author, his goal is to help you craft a story that is not only stronger on the page but also more marketable and publishable.
Some of Michael’s favorite proofreading projects include Be Useful by Arnold Schwarzenegger; Forget the Alamo by Bryan Burrough, Chris Tomlinson, and Jason Stanford; Play Hungry by Pete Rose; Eleanor and Hick: The Love Affair That Shaped a First Lady by Susan Quinn; and An Obvious Fact by Craig Johnson. He has also worked on books by Ryan Holiday, Pete Townshend, Henry Louis Gates Jr., Senator Mitch McConnell, Gretchen Carlson, Carly Fiorina, Elizabeth Gilbert, Seth Godin, Deborah Harkness, and Eric Schlosser. Recent copyediting projects include The Worth of Water by Matt Damon, Poe for Your Problems by Catherine Baab-Muguira, and A Fever in the Heartland: The Ku Klux Klan’s Plot to Take Over America by Timothy Egan.
Michael believes deeply in the process. Many writers want to be published, but fewer are willing to take the necessary steps to make that happen. I help writers understand what the industry expects—and how to meet those expectations without losing their voice.

I provide three levels of professional editing: copy editing (correcting grammar, punctuation, and consistency), line editing (enhancing flow, clarity, and sentence-level craft), and proofreading (final polish before publication). Each service can be tailored to your manuscript's specific needs.
-
My primary focus is memoirs, self-help, history, and business/entrepreneurship in both fiction and nonfiction. That said, I'm experienced across a wide range of genres and happy to discuss projects outside these areas.
-
Start by reaching out for a complimentary consultation. We’ll discuss your objectives, timeline, and audience, then craft a tailored scope of work for your approval.
-
Each project includes two rounds of revisions to ensure the final deliverable aligns perfectly with your vision. Additional rounds can be added as needed.
-
We'll start with a consultation to discuss your manuscript and goals. I'll provide a sample edit of one page, or 500 words, so you can see my approach, along with a quote and timeline. Once we agree to move forward, I'll edit your manuscript and return it with tracked changes and comments explaining my suggestions.
-
Timelines vary based on manuscript length and editing level required. Typically, I can complete 50,000 to 80,000 words within three weeks, though rush services may be available for an additional fee.
-
Rates depend on the type of editing needed and your manuscript's condition. After reviewing a sample of your work, I'll provide a detailed quote. I'm happy to discuss payment plans for longer projects.
-
Yes, I provide a complimentary sample edit of one page, up to 500 words so you can evaluate whether my editing style suits your needs before committing to the full project.
-
My role is to polish and enhance your voice, not replace it. I make suggestions and corrections while ensuring your unique style and message remain intact.
-
Microsoft Word (.docx) is preferred, as it allows for easy tracking of changes and comments. I can also work with Google Docs if that's more convenient.
-
Absolutely. Your manuscript and all related materials are kept completely confidential, and I'm happy to sign any necessary agreements before we begin.
-
Once the scope is agreed upon, an invoice detailing payment milestones and due dates will be issued. A 50% deposit is required for all projects. Payments can be made via Venmo, Zelle, or check.
-
Your satisfaction is my priority. If you have concerns about the editing, we'll discuss them and I'll make reasonable revisions to ensure the final product meets your expectations.
